Our Family History Centre in Yeovil has proved to be so popular with visitors that we are extending our opening hours for a trial period starting 1 October until Spring , by opening all day 10am-4pm on Fridays, as well as Thursdays. The September issue was a special edition to mark the centenary of the end of World War I and has eight more pages than normal.

Migration from the West Country features in many of the articles in the June issue of our journal The Greenwood Tree which was posted to members in early June. The records, transcribed by Jennifer McGowan, relate to cremations from with a gap from The area covered is rather larger than the normal churchyard burials.
It covers not only the Weymouth area, but also the cremations of people from elsewhere in Dorset and some from Somerset, and Devon.

After Yeovil crematorium opened, the area covered was reduced but because of the growing popularity of cremation, the numbers at Weymouth did not seem to go down. Somerset and Dorset Burials.
